My Zest For Health Coaching

comes from my own struggles and frustrations with trying to get healthy. See, I was in my early 20s and just trying to lose a few pounds, get into shape and... get healthy! I thought the best way to do that was to follow the advice in the media and health magazines and stay up to date on the latest "health tips". When I wasn't at the gym trying to burn the fat or scouring the internet for answers, I was counting calories, grams of carbs, fat & protein and searching for a new, lower calorie/higher protein/more satisfying snack. My life revolved around: food, worry, gym, guilt, willpower, scale. Repeat. I was miserable.

All I wanted was to reach that level of effortless health I had seen others do. You know, those people who just naturally incorporate health and fitness into their life.

But instead of getting healthy, I became anxious, obsessed, frustrated, disappointed and angry with myself... and I gained weight!!! I kept thinking there was something wrong with me. That I didn't have enough willpower. That I wasn't strong enough.

Thankfully when I hit the wall with my frustrations & disappointments, I had a moment of clarity: I had felt so much better before, when I didn't care what I ate. The problem wasn't me, it was this crazy diet!!!

When I ditched the diet I immediately felt a sense of relief. The obsession was gone and I was happy again! But was I healthy?

I knew there had to be a way. A way to be happy + healthy.

At that point in my life, you could say the universe responded.

My path intersected with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN), that unbeknownst to me, was located just a few floors above where I worked in the Time Warner Building at Whole Foods Market in NYC. One day at work, I picked up a pamphlet for IIN that I found on the lunch table and the rest is history. That was 10 years ago!

Fast forward to today!

Now I combine my experiences, unique interests and education to help others realize they too can have their health, happiness and sanity! Instead of it overtaking their life, it becomes a natural, effortless part of it.

There's no better way to say it:

You can have your cake and eat it too!
